The carbon math that matters

Every structural panel has a carbon story. For wood OSB the story is approximately neutral — softwood absorbs CO₂ while growing, releases it when kiln-dried, then re-absorbs a portion over the panel's lifetime. For BAMOSB the story is different: bamboo absorbs carbon roughly five times faster than softwood, the manufacturing chain is shorter, and the panels themselves are denser than typical wood OSB. The result: BAMOSB panels store more carbon per cubic meter than they emit during production. Verified cradle-to-gate, they are carbon-negative.

How this compares to wood OSB

Typical wood OSB EPDs report cradle-to-gate emissions of +0.45 to +0.85 kg CO₂e per kg of panel (positive number = emissions). A 18 mm wood OSB panel of 11 kg/m² emits roughly 5–9 kg CO₂e per m² in production. A BAMOSB panel of the same thickness removes about 16 kg CO₂e per m².
