Stage 01 · Sourcing

Moso bamboo, 4–5 years old

Raw bamboo comes from FSC-certified plantations within 80 km of our factory. Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) is harvested at 4–5 years old — the optimal age for fibre density and stiffness. Younger culms lack strength; older culms become brittle.

Stage 02 · Strand preparation

Strand geometry matters

After debarking, culms are chipped into long strands (~75 mm × 25 mm × 0.7 mm). Strand geometry is the single biggest determinant of final panel MOR/MOE. Our in-line optical QC continuously monitors strand dimensions and rejects off-spec material automatically.

Stage 03 · Resin blending

PF resin, E0 / CARB compliant

Dried strands are blended with phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin in a continuous blender. PF was chosen over MDI or UF for its combination of moisture resistance, zero formaldehyde off-gassing, and compatibility with structural applications. No urea-formaldehyde (UF) is used — that's why BAMOSB is E0 / CARB Phase 2 by default.

Stage 04 · Forming & pressing

200°C, 35 bar, 4 minutes

Resinated strands are scattered onto a forming line in three layers (face / core / face) with strand orientation aligned for cross-directional strength. The mat enters a continuous press at 200°C and 35 bar for ~4 minutes, exiting as a 1.22 × 2.44 m panel at 18mm thickness.

Stage 05 · Cooling, sanding & QC

3 in 1,000 reject rate

Panels are cooled for 24 hours to ambient, then sanded to calibrated thickness tolerance (±0.2 mm). Every panel passes through our QC lab for density, MOR/MOE spot-checks, IB, thickness swell, and formaldehyde. Reject rate is ~0.3% (industry average: 1.5–2%).

Stage 06 · Export packing

ISPM-15 compliant, ready for any port

Finished panels are stacked on heat-treated ISPM-15 wooden pallets, wrapped in PE stretch film + edge protection + corner boards, and loaded into 40' HQ containers. Each shipment includes B/L, invoice, packing list, COO, and optional FSC chain-of-custody certificates.
