01 — The Company

Structural bamboo OSB at industrial scale.

In 2021, three materials engineers quit their jobs to do one thing: prove that bamboo can replace the engineered wood panel industry without compromise.

"We didn't set out to build a bamboo company. We set out to answer one question — can a grass outperform the trees? Five years, three lines, and thirty countries later, we have our answer."

The road from prototype to a hundred-eighty-thousand cubic meters a year.

A pilot line in a borrowed warehouse

Three co-founders, one continuous press, and a single question: can Moso bamboo be processed at industrial scale into a panel that meets EN 300? The first panels failed every test.

First EN 300 OSB4 certification

Fourteen months of formulation work. Strand geometry, adhesive ratio, press temperature, dwell time. In September 2022, BAMOSB became the first 100% bamboo panel to pass EN 300 OSB4 in Europe.

EPD published. Line 3 commissioned.

Our Environmental Product Declaration (verified by BRE) went live in March 2024. By Q4, Line 3 — the world's largest bamboo-OSB press — was producing at 60,000 m³ per year on its own.

180,000 m³. 30+ countries. One more line planned for 2026.

Today BAMOSB panels are in residential, commercial, modular, marine, and industrial projects on every inhabited continent. Line 4, a 25,000 m³/month specialty line for architectural panels, breaks ground in Q3 2026.

04 — The case for bamboo

A grass that out-performs softwood on every axis that matters.

Moso bamboo is not a tree. It is a grass with a 5-year harvest cycle, a root system that never dies, and a tensile strength that exceeds mild steel by weight. Here is what that means for structural panels.

01 — Speed of growth

5 years from shoot to harvest.

Softwood takes 25-80 years to reach structural maturity. Moso bamboo reaches it in 4-5. After harvest, the root system stays alive and produces another culm — no replanting, no soil erosion, no clear-cutting.

The math: one hectare of Moso bamboo produces the same structural volume as 4 hectares of pine, every 5 years, in perpetuity.

02 — Fiber mechanics

Tensile strength of steel, by weight.

Bamboo fibers are aligned along the culm axis. When the culm is split into strands and re-oriented in three layers — like OSB but with longer, denser fibers — the resulting panel inherits that natural alignment.

Result: BAMOSB-S18 hits MOR of 50+ MPa along the major axis, exceeding the structural threshold that conventional wood OSB needs 30mm thickness to reach.

03 — Carbon story

Carbon-negative by design.

Every cubic meter of BAMOSB panel sequesters 1.4 tonnes of CO₂ — and that number is the manufacturing ledger, before the panel is even installed. The carbon stays locked in the fiber for the panel's 50+ year service life.

Verified: our EPD (BRE-verified) shows -1.41 tCO₂e per m³ from cradle to gate.

The people who quit their jobs to make this real.

280 people across two sites, led by a small group of materials engineers, manufacturing veterans, and one or two people who really should know better.
